As some of you may know my other car is a BMW Alpina B10 3.2 , one of only 64 RHD imported into the UK. Via the Alpina register and the www I try and keep track of how many B10 3.2 are still alive and kicking. Well I am down to 33 on my list as in the last month 3 have found their way to the big scrap yard in the sky, thanks mainly to drivers of white vans.
Not really sure, I think the problem is most insurance companies do not realise what the car really is. Most insurance companies do not even recognise the model as being bought into this country. I am guessing due to the high cost of some of the bespoke Alpina parts that will be the reason behind writing them off. I know over 3 years ago when mine was hit whilst it was parked up and me stood by the side of it, I had a real fight. But after not giving up I got to speak to someone within the insurance company that understood and realised what the car was, Esp when I told them to try and find me one in the same colour and spec for less than 8K, that changed their minds.
Interesting that, how did you go about finding out how many are left, just wondering how many roadster's there are left.
Alpinas are not easy to find out how many are left as some are registered as Alpina and some as BMW, so a lot of searching asking and leg work. I am sure though there are a few I do not know about. However for Roadsters just look here http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/bmw_m_roadster Showing about 531 in total resgistered and sorn'd
Sounds like you'v spent some time finding out!! thanks for the link but I was wondering about my Alpina roadster, never mind eh.
Sorry do not know the numbers for the Alpina Roadster but the Alpina forum may be able to help. http://www.thealpinaregister.com/
