Good morning and happy Easter,

I keep my Z3 away from my home address in the garage. Over the winter I use it rarely and the battery drains leaving it a nonstarter. As sometimes walk to the garage I bought myself a Noco GB40 jumpstart pack to assist. On both occasions I have tried to use this it has not been successful the engine just clicks and doesn’t start. I’m going to assume that the jumpstart pack doesn’t have enough power to turn the engine over first time. Does anybody have one of these and had any success? I’m just wondering if the unit is faulty or I need a better one ?

The Zed is a 2.8 and the unit says it’s rated to 6L. It is 1000A

Any thoughts ??

I have a Noco 20 ( I think), trickle charger that prevents that happening.
The jump pack I have is one of the generic eBay things, but it managed to start my sons Jag diesel quite easily from flat, also turned over a Smart car with a completely seized alternator, which is quite some feat, though it nearly melted.
Did you use the post under the bonnet, or connect direct to the battery? If the battery, I’d clean the terminals, you may not be getting a good contact, which means the battery may not be charging properly either.

Hi Iain,

thank you for your reply, the points you raise with the first thing that I checked. It doesn’t work either under the Bonnet or from the battery in the boot. All the terminals are clean and both work perfectly fine with jump leads from another car

A coincidence this! Yesterday I read the post and thought to myself ah I haven't used my Noco GB-20's yet in 11 months of ownership of my Zed.
Well 10 hours later I went to put the Zed in garage and zilch, nothing! used the Noco and didnt jump it, neither did my daily driver. I ended up putting the Noco on manual mode and that led it to having some sort of life and then used the DD to jump it and that worked. Seems the battery was 100% flat so maybe the reason for Noco not doing it, maybe I should have left it on for a while?

Can you not remove the battery from the car, and take it home and put a charger on it. It may save buying a new battery?

I would lean towards @FRANKIE solution of a solar powered trickle charger and leave the battery on the car.

Tony.
