No start

My z3 coupe 2.8 had no crank and no start. I tried to jump it but it’s definitely not the battery because all lights come on including headlights. I tried a push to start and that didn’t work either. That kind of ruled out the starter but I bought a new one just in case. Before installing it I figure I’d consider other options. I made a jumper wire for the power cables on the EWS and the car cranks but does not start so the starter is definitely good. Does this mean the EWS is shot or was this just a test for the starter? What else should I check next? Some other symptoms include the cluster comes on but none of the gauges move and an obd scanner can’t make a connection to the car. I’ll keep you updated with any other symptoms I find. Any ideas as to what can be causing this?

I am pretty old school so I say fuel pump. I may be wrong but that would be my first investigation.

I think I’ve found the problem but didn’t find how to fix it yet. The car was a manual swap but the ecu was never coded to a manual. I threw out a range selector switch while swapping my interior bc I figured I don’t need any of the automatic bits anymore. I’m assuming this is why the car won’t start. I’ve been trying to make a jump wire but I keep shorting automatic transmission fuse 28
