Hi. I have a aftermarket stereo in my 98 z3.. was all working ok.. yesterday I had no sound.. stereo is working ok.. tried in another car and all works.. any idears ? Thanks
If its the basic non HK setup the amplifier is normally bolted to the back of the front left footwell speaker. It is possible that somebody may have removed the amplifier from there and connected the wires together that would have plugged into it.
I know the amplifier you are talking about. It's not there and wires look like they haven't be cut.. but still no sound from head unit.. I have tried a second head unit with no joy. Thanks
Chris, most radios with a digital display have 2 power sources, a constant and a switched source. The constant is always hot, the switched responds to the ignition key of the car. Here is a video that might help;
Just did that test. Everything as it should be.. I am still thinking amp.. but unable to find it.. would it be worth removing passenger seat and looking under the carpet ??
I assume you have pulled the entire wiring harness through the radio aperture and checked its all connected. I can't quite remember but 1 of the plugs is for speakers and the other power......just a thought.
