Hi
I am hoping someone can help me with a sound problem with my 2000 z3 which I have recently bought.
I bought it with no radio in it, not a problem I would just buy one, a Pioneer. The car at some point had a radio which was removed along with the subwoofer and cd/amplifier in the boot, all that remains are the connections. I connected the adapter harness which I had purchased but did not require the aerial connector as it already had the adapter. The radio lights up and I can run through the programs and set up but I have no sound. I am hoping that someone can give me a way forward so I can play my music and listen to the radio.:) thanks.

The issue is that the amp has been removed thus leaving an open circuit hence no sound. You either need to put in an amp or close the circuit by connecting up some wires (Sorry, well beyond my capability)

I had the same problem with mine. The amp however is not in the boot with the CD changer which I had removed, it is behind trim in the passenger foot-well. I would doubt that this has been removed. The problem I had was that the aftermarket radio did not have a +ve supply to feed the amp. Its a while ago now so cannot remember what wire it was but I got ignition switched power to the amp and it all worked a treat! Worth having a look for the amp. I think its behind the trim on the left hand side of the passenger foot-well.

I think it depends on year and spec. My amp is in the boot and when I took it out there was no sound to the head unit, power though. Put it back in and it worked fine.

Could be, mine is a 2000 model too so thought they might be similar. Worth a look as it was only one wire.:thumbsup:

Thank you for the information I will look for the amp which I hope is there and connect it to the ignition switch power it makes sense.
