Those of you who have been around a while may remember the project to put a new loom into a project 2.2.
It's been slow progress since the loom was done due to other priorities in life but even I was shocked when I saw we did this work 4 years ago now! Anyhow, one rear end rebuild later that you can eat your dinner off and it's ready for the MOT. We were slow and meticulous when we did the loom and I can confirm we've never had any issues since and indeed I'd challenge anyone to know we'd done the job. Except...
There was one thing I didn't test before the interior went back in. Because nothing can go wrong with the stereo can it... The stereo is on a separate loom that is bound to the main loom and looks as if it is one - it isn't. I'm kicking myself for not testing it as I have no power from either the permanent live or the switched live from the ignition. The ground is fine. I strongly suspect the loom is not plugged in correctly or there may be more than 1 type of stereo loom and I used the wrong type. It would need the interior come out to check/replace.
So with avoiding interior removal in mind, any suggestions for if anything else may be causing the lack of power? The fuses in question are 9 for the permanent live and 44 for the switch live but they are fine. The wiring diagrams have been carefully studied with no clues picked up. They usually show you where connector locations are which might allow me to only partially strip the interior but for the stereo loom nothing is shown.
Thanks.
Wiring loom replacement project
Well after a couple of false starts the project has now started in earnest. Story so far: 2.2 bought as a project with damaged wiring loom Caused by boot loom of doom Short circuit. Fuse blew. Fuse replaced with cheap Chinese fuse. Fuse didn't blow next time and loom heated up and melted in...
