If it wasnt for Mazda and Toyota there would be zero makers that produce cheap(ish) sports or comvertible cars any more.
SLK200, Z3 1.9, Peugeot RZ, Fiat Coupe, Opel Calibra, Volkswagen Sciroco, even Sloda had a rear engine couoe back then. What hapened?

Now its just SUV's and rarely one or two sedans.
Sign of the times?

If the rumours are to be believed and the new Celica GR looks (and goes) like the above, with a manual gearbox.......Sign me up NOW!

There's also going to be an MR2 revival with the same bonkers 400hp petrol engine, apparently.

Got to love the Japs, they are the only ones left making interesting, affordable cars with ICE. They are also not shy of making them look 'different'.

I had a 2019 Honda Civic Type R last year. While looking ridiculous, it was THE best car to drive I have ever had the privilege of owning (and I have had a few). The manual gearbox was a work of art.

You buy a 350bhp car thinking you are king of the road, then a rep in a Tesla leaves you for dust.
