I guess if companies want to come onto this forum and tell us how wonderfull they think they are then they are fair game for some posts where they clearly arn't alls fair and all
Work this out folks, I have been insured with CKI on my Z3M since about Feb this year, I went to them with 1 yrs NCB and will have 2 by the end of this insurance period.(25 yrs company car usage hence 0 NCB until I got my first zed and accident free for 8 yrs with a no fault accident prior to that) Now as some of you will know I have just bought a Z4 Alpina and so naturally phoned CKI to insure it fully expecting it to be expensive as my NCB was on the M, but no they refused to insure the car because I have no NCB to go on it even though they insure my Z3 ????
Well their loss phoned Tesco £451 pa not bad I thought with 0 NCB and BTW CKI you won't get the Z3 insurance next year either.

Sod em mate, there are lot's of others out there. Maybe they won't insure the Z4 Alpina because it hasn't got any ///M badges.:whistle::whistle:

That maybe true Phil I would have considered an M badge or two if it would have helped still a bit odd though

They do what they like Niall, unfortunately for us. Did you get an agreed value policy from Tesco?

No mate don't bother with them I know a few people who have had them and when it came to pay out they went worth the paper they were written on.

I had a similar issue with another company when I part exed the 1 series which I'd had for a year for the Z4. I only had 1 years NCB for the same reason and they initially refused to insure the Z. When it was pointed out that I'd been a named driver on another policy for 10 years with no claims and we would not only cancel that but also our house contents insurance they had a swift change of mind.

@Nodzed If you have proof of your Comp car driving then a lot of insurance companies will give you x amount of no claims transferred onto the insurance policy. I have had a company car for years and when i went to Admiral they gave me 7 years no claim bonus when we went from 1 car to 2 cars

I'm insured with Saga. I had full no claims on my Merc. When I bought my Zed I phoned them to say I was going to keep both cars and asked if I had to start with zero no claims for the Zed.
Straight away they gave me full no claims on the Zed too. I insure both cars fully comp, protected no claims for around £300

I had it with Swiftcover when I bought my first zed, coming from an E36 325 to a Z3 2.0 which was a less powerful car without modifications (at the time) and they would touch me. Ended up cancelling and going elsewhere. It's their loss, to many other companies will welcome the business nowadays. Ironically I'm back with Swiftcover now and this time round I couldn't get anyone to beat my renewal quote which I've always managed to get better in the past.

Lots of companies try it on with renewals and increase the price because far too many people still don't shop around, they just automatically renew.

CKI may well have lost more business than just yours now after highlighting your experience

Some of these specialist insurers only let you accrue NCB per car I believe.
I wouldn't want to a car like the Alpina or even my 2.8 with a mainstream insurer. If the worst were to happen you'll have fight on your hands regarding the value.
Manning (broker) have been good (they insured mine with MS Amlins who were decent up deal with in a claim situation). Adrian flux also deal with agreed value insurers.
A small bump on some of the Alpina bits could potentially be enough for a write off with a mainstream insurer whereas the specialist look at around 60% of the agreed value (which won't be what some book says) before talking about write off.
I'd hate to think how much 4 Alpina wheels and the bumpers would cost news!

Try Adrian Flux. They were pretty good to me after a phone call about my renewal, pricematched and gave me a discount for having a dashcam.

Just got my renewal through from CKI. And with more NCB it’s gone up by £60 a year. Funny enough started calling round and already got it dropped by £105. So guess CKI won’t be getting the renewal for the 3.0 and the 2.2 too.

Agree with @Nodzed about calling around to get a better quote.

Exactly the same with me I was with SAGA for my Mazda 3, with a full NCB, when I got the Z3, I phoned them and they immediately said I could have the full NCB on that as well, I didn't have to ask.
