My 2002 3.0 Z3 is reading over 40 MPG on a long run too..Thats without caning it and keeping a steady 70ish ..Why would they have set the calibration out so much at the factory..
Next step is to do the full tank test and run it as dry as I dare and see how many miles it has done...

Possibly to fool customers into believing they were getting better MPG so increasing sales in times of expensive fuel and more fuel economical competition?

Be interesting to know other folks experiences of the accuracy offactory calibrated MPG computer!
