Hi, been looking after my wife's 2000 2.0l Z3 roadster for her since 2008. Even allowed to drive it occasionally. Had 42k miles in 2008 and now has 83k miles. Generally runs great but recently stopped in the rain to put up the hood and it no work. Frantic phone call to me and talked her through raising hood manually. It seems the brakelight switch failed. Fitted new one today - what a pain. Was told that it is easier to remove the switch bracket and then change the switch. The Pelican how to video makes it look easy but does not show clutch switch on same bracket or that mounting bolt is also utilised to mount clutch slave cyl. The new switch was an absolute pig to fit to the bracket. Also how do you hold down both clutch and brake pedal whilst you refit the bracket. One last question why does the car have a clutch micro switch? No cruise fitted so what is its purpose?
Thanks for info in anticipation.

It’s easier to just break the old switch to get it out of the bracket rather than remove it. The clutch switch might stop you starting the car without the clutch depressed..for the American market ( not saying anything ! 🤣)

Thanks for that but... Did break the old switch but couldnt get the new one in, the bracket dtarted to bend so removed it to be able to fit new one. No don't need to to hold down clutch to start - unlike my Hyundai Tucson.
Thanks anyway for your reply.

Hi Graham and :welcome: to the forum from me too in Stafford. When I changed my brake light switch, IIRC, there was a red collar which had to be slid back to allow the switch to locate correctly.
