Morning my name is Ally from Norwich. I have a fab "R" reg Z3 1900 automatic in black and I luv driving her with the top down.....roll on the warm weather! (Im also a bike rider so cant wait for bike to be back on the road).
Im here to gain information on Z3s and I also need a new rear screen fitted so will be trying to rack your brains to find somewhere near to me that does this without me having to take out a mortgage!
Hope to speak with you soon thanks for tuning in
Ally :hellsangels::thankyou:

I can give you an official welcome now!

The rear screens can be bought aftermarket reasonable cheaply for around £150. Fitting isn't the worst procedure either if you have someone to help you - although you may get offered a hand by someone on here, you never know!

Process is document here so you can get an idea if its the sort of thing you might attempt - https://zroadster.org/articles/bmw-z3-rear-screen-replacement.61/

Oh, and pictures ;)

Hi I have been looking around and found an article on screen replacement and it looks easy (haha famous last words!) Do all the screens have this zip feature as obviously I haven't removed old screen as yet :rolleyes:

All original BMW hoods will have a zipped in rear screen, so unless the hood has been changed on yours to a non-BMW one you should be good. If you feel particularly keen you can see the zip from inside the car with a bit of contorting while kneeling on the seats.

Welcome Ally from Canada! To answer your question, no they are not all zip in. Only original BMW tops are the rest are a permanently sewn in piece. You can pick up a factory quality zip in on EBay UK for under £100 but they use different methods of finishing with most using contact cement which can make quite a mess or a German co has one utilizing two sided tape which is my preference.
Hope you enjoy the forum and it's always a pleasure to have another female on board to put in their perspective. JIM

Welcome to the M44 Massive Ally. @GazHyde please.

Any questions please ask, I would check your hood to make sure it has a zipped window, some after market hoods have a stitched window, but if it is the Oem hood you will be ok.

Are you calling Ally massive! Bit rude considering you've never even met her! :D

Hi Ally and welcome from a little further north, near Lincoln. I came across someone doing a rear screen fitting service on eBay last night while was looking for something else.

Tony.
