Hi All,

Just registered today on the forum.
Have a red Z4 E89 2011 2.3 that I picked up earlier in the year.

Hope to join some of the Scotland runs later in the year.

First problem is the roof open/close operation.
Going to replace some switches and swap over cables.
Read a posting that the complete loom should be replaced every 10 year.

Not going that far but plan to change a few.
Wish me luck.

cheers
Jim

I tried using Mine the other day and no sound no motion. So I’m thinking oil first.

If your hydraulic oil hoses are goosed it's a costly affair as you can't buy individual hoses apparently and need to buy the full system at circa £1800 less fitting (it's a long job too).

If there’s no sound then for some reason the roof computer is not allowing the operation to start…

Is the battery fully charged? Are you trying to motor the roof with the engine running? Do you have a decent bmw specific code reader? Is the internal luggage partition properly shut?

Many many reasons for ‘failures’ before you get to wiring loom or hydraulic failures…IMHO

FWIW The Zed Shed, in St Helens will do a complete replacement hydraulic loom for £1,475 fully fitted..they use (allegedly) uprated hoses etc..

No sound or motion? Have the "Salmon Relays" in the boot on the pump been changed ever?

Tony.
