Hello all,

I just recently purchased a 2000 Z3 roadster with the 2.5 ltr engine. This is my 2nd 2000 Z3, my first was a 2.8 model. This first Z3 was won in a drawing at a national convention for my wife's work. It was posted in all of the professional journals and hyped up pretty well. I kept telling her that we would be driving it home. Sure enough, we won it! Unfortunately, we ended up selling it in 2005 with only 5k on the odometer. My wife and I thought the money was better spent going into our children's 529 accounts at the time. I agreed, but secretly regretted giving up the car. Now that they are grown up and successful on their own, I just had to have a Z3 again.

So now I have a 23 year old car, I will need your experience and help with a few of the issues that came with the car.

Hi Craig and welcome from me near Lincoln, UK. I guess you're in the USA somewhere when you say you bought a 2000 Z3 with the 2.5 engine. I am happy that you have replaced that car as you will both have hours of fun in a Z, and also because this is the best place for info to help you repair and maintain a 23 year old car. We all give up things for our kids, and grandkids but you will be able to share this one with them now.

Tony.

Thank you all! I live in Central Illinois, 2 hrs south of Chicago. Here are a couple photos of my red beauty! I have replaced the antennae base and rubber grommet, and added the antennae, so the blue painter's tape is no longer present. Someone had replaced the original stereo with an aftermarket, but was missing the faceplate when I bought it. I have the new stereo head replaced with a single din Kenwood receiver. The lights perfectly match the rest of the dash lights, yet has all of the bluetooth technology. The new amp will be arriving tomorrow, so will finally have sound. The existing Blaukpuck amp is intermittent in working. It seems to work for a while, then gets hot and shuts down. The speakers brands are unknown, but they sound sufficient with separate tweeters in the door and solid speakers in the foot area and speakers behind the seat, with a kicker sub woofer in the trunk. That may not always travel with me, as I can't put anything else in the boot with the kicker in there.

Look forward to working out the other issues my Z is having.

Craig
