Thanks for allowing me to join. I have been a proud owner of an 1998 Atlanta Blue Z3 since 2000. She has not been on the road for the past 4 years due to life getting in the way. I have been thinking of fixing her and driving her again. Prior to me parking her in the garage and putting the car cover on her the Check engine light came on. I looked up the code and it was the same one that has been coming on and off since 2009 when I had the Cats changed. I doubt it’s the Cat the shop I took it too replaced it and with in 6 months it happened again and they took it off and cleaned it out replaced all o2 sensors and problem went away for a few months. I then talked with a few other people and had the ECU remapped and was able to have it go away but would pop on and off. The car has 156663 miles and I am thinking about replacing the plugs finally fixing the weeping oil leak from the valve cover and trying a few other things. Every spring I tell my wife that I should just sell the BMW and move on. And yet every year I hang onto her. Been teasing my niece who just turned 16 that if I get it road worthy she can drive it this fall If she gets her license. The codes were P0170 and P1188.

Hi and welcome from me in Scotland :welcome:.
Your p1188 is o2 sensor bank1 sensor 1
Your p0170 is probably caused by a split hose somewhere drawing unmetered air which could also be causing the o2 sensor fault .

Hi, welcome from Mansfield

Agree with others that a split hose is what I would be looking for first.
