Welcome. What issues does it have ?
Quite a few - it currently has a head gasket issue, some small niggles and it has been sat for around 6 months, so has other issues such as rusty brakes, etc. It runs very well and if it didn't smoke then you wouldn't know about the head gasket issue - Sadly a compression test stated otherwise.

It was originally owned by one of my dads work colleagues when it overheated. He planned on fixing it but his mrs said otherwise and was impossible to say no.

If you're needing any parts for your car Matt, there's a few guys on here who brake Z's @spurs fan in a coupe , @Synclare and @mrscalex so you can speak to them if there's anything you need. Also as the season is ready to get going now often parts can be transported across the country between members.

Tony.

Hi from not far away in Mansfield. You've got from now until september to get rolling before Tonys do. No pressure! =))

Happy to help with parts. And advice where I can.

You may find the simplest route with the head gasket is to swap the engine. It's a DIY job if you're keen. A head gasket I would argue is more difficult.

Is it a 2.8? You might get one for £250/£300. Try and find one under 100k miles or to match the car's mileage if less.

Even if you get a garage to swap the engines it could work out cheaper than a head gasket, particularly if you need the head skimmed.

Maybe keep an eye on my engine swap thread in case I manage to impart something sensible ;)

Cheers for the advice guys, plan is to take the head off and go from there. September the deadline is then, lol, unless I can turn up in my daily
