Hi Guys. I write from Wagga Wagga in New South Wales Australia. 18 months ago I bought my first Zed, a 2003 E85 Roadster and have been very happy and impressed with it ever since. It is a 2.5L 5 speed manual running 18 inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport S4s. I use it as my daily and just love driving it everywhere with the top down. However, unfortunately, two days ago my roof malfunctioned in the down position.
I know this is a common fault with these cars and have been reading all the online info I can find. I fear the worst, and will probably need a new hydraulic motor. That is going to have to wait until I can get to Sydney and have an experienced tradesman look at it. However, I need to get the roof up so that I can still drive it in wet weather.
I have tried following the "Emergency Manual Operation" procedure shown in the owner's manual but pulling the Bowden cable in the boot does not seem to bypass the hydraulics. I can raise the roof about 12 inches and then no further. Does anyone have any idea how I can otherwise operate a bypass allowing me to close the roof?
