Hi and welcome from me in Scotland

I'm a Staffordshire lad too but I left many years ago, but I still head down when I can. Planning ahead is difficult so we take things on a day to day basis - it's a little like glacial erosion - you can't stop it and though it looks like a glacier it wears a little every day. A while ago I noticed that when my younger son drove his mother in his 330i with the hood down, she reacted in a very different way to being in a car. The anxiety and confusion of being driven were replaced by a series of genuine tactile experiences - the wind, the noise, the communication with other road users and pedestrians, and the reaction to the quiet country lanes around us where this is no or little traffic. I thought it might buy us some time and so I went shopping.Hi @Fromagegrande,to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. Best intro thread EVER
. What a great reason to buy a Zed. Hope you enjoy some great drives together

It's a lot quieter here this morning, a cuppa outside a few moments ago and two slates on the drive - not bad. But the forecast isn't good for later, including Mansfield.Hi from Mansfield. I to can relate to your story. You we're right to stay home today, it's been a shocker out. Ooh and I to originally come from the riding.![]()
Thank you - my wifes' home and my emotional home - lots of relatives.Welcome from Ireland!
Thank you - everyone is so kind. It makes a difference here.Hi and welcome Colin, hope you both enjoy your zed![]()
We found these moments of humour with Shirl's dad were priceless Colin and still continue to be so.I'm a Staffordshire lad too but I left many years ago, but I still head down when I can. Our Z is only a 2.0i but has a little growl and is very comfy and I am absolutely smitten with the design - it's very much a 'look at me' experience.
And if I may be so bold -it's somewhat cathartic writing on here - it's not always doom and gloom with us: e.g. helping her ladyship get dressed and bringing her down this morning and I asked how she felt. She lost a few words so began a kind of clapping motion with her hands - 'you think you've got the clap?' I said. 'No' straightaway she replied ' I've got the shakes' and nearly pushed me down the stairs laughing loudly. Great start to the day. I do go on though........sorry.
I'm a Brummie really but lived here over 30 years now. Now about the "Our Z is only a 2.0i" bit. Nothing wrong with a 2 litre, you have the smooth 6 cylinder engine, same as the bigger boys. Enjoy your time together in the Zed, it will leave you with many happy memories...with or without the clap...I'm a Staffordshire lad too but I left many years ago...
Absolutely Tony. You have to laugh - we both do. Hilarious almost every day.We found these moments of humour with Shirl's dad were priceless Colin and still continue to be so.
Hope the weather is good for a run out soon.
Tony.
Thank you Fender2004 - our philosophy entirely.Welcome you shouldn’t care what other people think, as long as you and your wife enjoy the car. Hope you have many happy miles and memories

Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey............FrankieThank you for accepting me into your group. I'm an old fella living in the North Riding and I purchased my 2006 2.0i Z4 a couple of months ago for a number of reasons, but primarily to bring some exhilaration and stimulation to my wife who has Alzheimers but hey, we're coping and working hard and flying around the Dales and the Moors and she's waving like mad at all and sundry: stopping at lights and pedestrian crossings is an experience as she starts conducting conversations with anyone who looks her way. Sometimes, with the roof down, she asks me to close the window as she's got a draught. Got to smile.
I have always been a BMW fan having owned quite a few over the years, my favourite being the 535i I had back in the eighties - best car ever. Ever!
I called my eldest son to tell him what I'd done when I picked up the car - I'm looking at one too, he said, and came up from south last weekend to drive mine.
It's fun, I hope she lasts as long as the car but I promise to enjoy every day at the wheel when we are out together. I probably have a tendency to let words run away with me so I'll stop now. And there are some who quite rightly will think this is all too much info so my apologies - I promise not to do it again.
Thank you again and my kindest regards to you all.
