Hi all, new to the site..just got my first z3 and really pleased. Can anyone help Re any events round Wakefield, West Yorkshire area? Also, I want to carry a spare litre of oil with me due to previous events and experiences...the handbook is a bit vague...I have the 2.8 wide body, 1988 model.....any advice or recommendations on best oil to use and frequency of oil changes? Thanks.

Welcome!

Oil wise, have a look on opieoils.co.uk (ZROAD discount code) and that will tell you the correct oil to use. As for frequency, depends on how often you want to change it! The service intervals are based on usage rather than set mileage intervals.

Hi from the middle of Canada!! Oil changes depend upon several differentials and are basically dependant upon your driving style! I feel the oil and if it at all feels gritty I change. Colour changes are another way to tell if the oil contains more contaminates. Oil changes are cheap protection to get the maximum milage from your engine so changing often translates to a long lasting engine usually! JIM

Hi and welcome from Surrey. The oil change based on the service interval lights is usually about 18,000 miles but I change mine once a year. I still use the OEM Castrol edge. I have been carrying a spare litre about for 3 years but finally put it in in Switzerland In September after an enthusiastic drive over 4 Passes. that was 6,000 miles from the last oil change.
