If you find a 2.8 Z3 and it all checks out good, get it, they are the best of the range. My 2.8 also had 72k on the clock when I bought her........ Just run in!

Oh, now I see, you've been talking to HT.=)) The ads for the villa are important mate, as for Grumpy, well that's just my equivalent to Mozz's martian innit?;)

What ads? All I can see is a dwarf and something stuck under the 2.0 badge. :wtf:

Hi Joe, just checked up on the details. The Z3 had 70k miles on the clock when I bought her in March 2012 The present mileage is 74k. If you go to the Zroadster.net site and click on the Z3 knowledge base there is a Z3 buying guide by Mike Fishwick which is very comprehensive, plus other hints and tips to consider when purchasing. There may be something similar on this site as well. Don't forget to check the differential support bracket spot welds in the boot. Best of luck, Bonzo.

... check out one more... 97 2.8 Auto with 72k miles. Looks clean in the photos...
I think all 1997s made after 1/97 had roll hoops. My 1997 1.9 was made in 10/96 so does not. This car appears to be an early 1997 like mine.

Yea, the roll hoops add a nice touch. This one is looking really promising though, will be seeing it later on tonight. I actually like that it's used car dealer, under NY law, they must provide a 60day 3k mile warranty, to cover various engine, transmission, and other defects, under the lemon law :)
The asking price of $5950 is also very reasonable assuming the car is in the condition they state :) They also do trade ins, I'm bringing title to my current car, incase they are willing to make a good offer.

Quick question guys; not sure if the 97 has a power assisted top or not, but if the power mechanism is broken can it be used manually without having to replace pumps or whatever the assist is?
