Hi all, just joined cuz I just got my first bmw and it’s a z3

I’m in Alberta, Canada . Was looking for a Sunday driver car , I didn’t have anything specific in mind, just something fun, rare side and was also looking at something to restore or fix up.

I found a z3, 1997 with the 2.8. Had a look at it, was also the first one I have ever looked at or driven. Then looked at the only other one for sale locally which was a 99 with the 4 cyl.

I went back and got the first one. I think it was a great find too.

100,000 km, garage kept. 0 rust. Perfectly clean and dry underneath . Hard and soft top.

Everything is good , runs good, drives great and everything is original . Also has the blck and red leather interior with no tears or scratches anywhere .

Looking forward to reading up on these cars as I know nothing about them. I do want to upgrade the factory radio and tiny speakers.

Hey Ryan, welcome from me too near Lincoln, UK. You may well find your car has some small ///M badges here and there, but, a 2.8 isn't an ///M. It is however a lot of fun. Enjoy.

Tony.

Welcome aboard, all you will ever need to know can be found on here. Update your user details to show your location so it appears in the left of your posts and also add the model and year of your car, saves typing them each time you post and assists us answering your questions.
Going forward I would suggest you bolster your toolbox with a code treader and a 20pin to 16pin obd2 cable changer to plug the code reader in the engine bay diagnostic socket so it will read all modules. If you have a 16pin obd2 socket under the steering wheel that only reads engine and transmission modules. The round Pac-man socket in the engine bay reads all modules. Popular code reader is the Creator 310+ or 410+ available on ebay or Amazon at reasonable price. If you want to go with a laptop system then BMW Scanner 1.4 is a good choice and easy to use, also available on ebay but you will still need the 20pin to 16pin cable changer.
