Can you believe this ........ :p
About 8 months ago I had a couple of new tyres fitted on the Z :)
On Sunday I went to drive the Z and noticed I had a flat tyre :(
So Monday I took it too the tyre centre to have a new tyre fitted, but they didn't have the tyre size I needed, so they had to order me another one , but then the man said you also have a nail in the tyre on the other side , so I had to have two new tyres , :)
I'm just glad it didn't happen this Sunday as we're off to Duxford with the crew :p

Sounds like it @Shelly, they just want to sell.
They say you have to buy a new tyre if you use tyre weld foam, my garage just cleaned out the gunk and plugged it.

Did they show you the nail in the tyre?
If it is close to the tyre wall it cannot be repaired.

Yes I did see the nail in the tyre :p
He was going to take it out Monday before I left to go home ......... :(
But I told him to leave it be , as it was bad enough going home on one flat tyre ( it was pumped up before I left the tyre place ) let alone two flat tyres =))

Back when I was doing tyres for a living we could get a "major repair" done if a tyre was damaged in or near the sidewall. Trouble was, it was normally cheaper to get another tyre, and wasn't worth doing except for big stuff for lorries and the like. When I first got my Z it turned out to have two major repaired tyres on, both on the front, and both on the outer sidewall:wideyed:. They got taken off, just not worth the risk.

Yet there is no mention of tyres being plugged in the tread near to the tyre side walls in the M.O.T. tester's manual. Strange that, if its dangerous

Tony.
