No, this is not a 'Which Tyres Should I Buy' thread but a bit of info on my previous ones. I have just been looking at the mileage the previous tyres have done. Like some on here I was running Maxxis MAZ1s all round. I had to replace the rears 18 months ago but couldn't get Maxxis again so went for Falkens (914s). I have just changed them all and the Maxxis have covered 30,914 miles on the front and the Falkens 17,597 miles on the rear. Pretty pleased with that:thumbsup:. I must be driving too slowly:whistle:

As you know Dave I've ordered new rears Falken Ziex ZE914 to match the front from Tyreleader just awaiting delivery from Europe direct to my chosen tyre fitter.
I'll be happy if I get 17k from them.

I just had a full set of Uniroyal Rainsport 3's fitted to my new wheels which are going on the car tomorrow

£58 each with free delivery from Tyreleader and were here the next day

First time I've used them and was very pleased with the service

Will write a review once they have bedded in and I've done a few miles

I bought 2 Falkens 225 50 16 they are on the front and not really that impressed. The steering feels heavy tyres feel really hard and slightly wandering .
They replaced Avon's which felt better much softer when hitting bumps holes in the road .
My rears are Avon's and will probably need renewal this year depending on how much mileage I do in the coming future.
I won't be buying Falken again I will put them on the back and try something different for the front .

They were on my short list as well, but I went for Hankooks in the end.

Wherever you buy tyres from look at all the ones listed on tyreleader, most have 'XL' in their description which denotes that they have extra reinforced sidewalls which are ideal for modern cars.. put them on a Z and you will be asking for a hard thumpy ride.

I was concious of this when l just bought a set of 17" wheels to replace my 16"s and made sure l bought a non XL set of Rainsports whick will hopefully give a more comfortable ride.. will find out tomorrow!!

Yes agree Alan they have XL on them think that's the difference know better next time.
They will probably be better on the back if and when I buy the next 2 tyres which will be a different brand.

I have Hankooks on my daily driver Hyundai and they are a good tyre
We have a Hyundai ix35 which we've done over 44,000 miles on the original Hankooks. I know you can't throw a 4x4 around like the Zed but it is a heavy car.
It was about £50 more for the Hankooks over the Uniroyals, but the Hankooks were including fitting at home so I thought I'd give them a try. Liked the tread pattern too;)

My Falken Ziex ZE914 aren't marked as XL.

Interesting on the XL thing...I've always gone for XL on my 18inch wheels as that is what the previous owner had on.
Not checked whether it's XL or not on my 17's.

I know XL is mandatory for heavier cars like people carriers - they can handle more weight so must have stiffer walls.
