I managed to curb a front wheel on friday, since i had the wheels painted i seem to have done this a few times, more touch up paint i thought, but i had taken a piece of the sidewall off the tyre exposing the cords DAM & BLAST, i have newish falken 914 all round, could not find any local, got all impatient(sun was out) and had a pair of toyo proxy fitted, and i am realy pleased with them, steers a lot better and no tramline effect , my zed is more fun down my favorite roads now, i am told they wont last long, oh well.

Crikey that must have been a fair old "clip" to do that to the tyre.
Strange how new paint on the wheels seems to attract them to curbs more than before .
How come the new Toyo's may not last long ?.

i got the tyre just on the curb and then as i backed up it slid off, must have trapped the sidewall against the rim edge, lucky!
i am told the toyo is quite a soft compound, so may well wear quite quickly

I guess you were lucky not to damage the rim.
If you have more confidence with the Toyo's it's a fair trade off for a little shorter tyre life .
I have Hankook's on the front of mine, done 15k miles, still got loads of tread left and give good feed back......so far :)

Front tyres should last quite a bit! Hope your alloy is not too badly curbed, if tyre has taken most of the damage?

No just on the front @Davyhoogy. Had to have 4 new tyres and brakes at the time so I have budget tyres on the rear for now,but I would definitely fit Hankooks on the rear without worrying.
