TBH I don't personally but as a general rule first thing to do is disconnect the negative battery lead and isolate it from re touching the battery post while you are removing the starter motor.
Hi and welcome from Llantwit Major near Cardiff. Never done it myself, but you won't have to wait too long until someone who has comes along, people on this forum have a wealth of experience.
In theory its quite simple usually only two torx bolts hold it on .just done mine on mi z4 .As Tony says disconnect the battery an make sure they cant flop back onto the terminal. And note wher the wires go on the starter terminal. Mine actually had different size connectors so u couldnt wire them back up wrong.
Just take yr time .a bit fiddly but easily doable.

As others have said disconnect battery first - make sure you have your radio code.
Access to mounting bolts on the M44 is a bit difficult - removing oil dip stick tube improves this.
Check which type of mounting bolts are fitted you may need a torx socket and you will need a long extension bar and ratchet.
You will also need a few ring/open jaw spanners for wiring connections.
Good Luck.
Did this a couple of months ago,
Very easy job. Basically as everyone else has said a couple of torq screws and some unplugging of wires and you're there. No need to remove the dipstick, but would definitely aid access.
simple job if you are used to doing your own work, if not, which i am assuming you are not, try and get someone to give you a hand so you can see how it is done and will know for future reference
