Just retired and bought a 1998 Z3 1.9 for us to play in. Disc purple with tan interior and top. Have had BMW 1150 GS for 26 years now, so I decided to see what the cars are like. Wife does look good in the convertible! Looking forward to some DIY wrenching and maintenance. Not that it needs it right now, car only had 74K and never left the garage much. Little old man from Pasadena, Sunday go to church story. Any suggestions on forums to start with?

Hello and welcome , the car looks great, depending on its service history just a full fluid change for peace of mind.
If its driving well there should be no major worry's but the diff and gearbox like most are likely to still have the original fluids , so a change won't hurt.
Happy spannering :thumbsup:

Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Great looking car. Not too many around with that color. It's good that the wife likes it with the top down as many, including mine, don't always like their hair blown about. You'll find that many of the guys on the forum here are from the UK. You'll get a geography lesson looking to see where they're from in the UK. They're a great bunch of guys. I've been over there twice for some cruises they've taken and made some really great friends there..I also have a 1.9 L '96. When I was in the UK, I rode around in some of 3.2 L jobs and liked them so much that I searched around for months on the internet to find one here. I finally found one in San Diego and told the boys in the forum that I was going out there to look it over and perhaps buy it and drive it back. Many of them wanted to go with me. A good friend from Wales flew into Philly and we both then flew to San Diego to drive it back. We had a blast. You'll meet many of them SOON as they will come online to welcome you. It's a VERY friendly forum.

Tips for forum use:

Never tell them you enjoy talking to the English if you happen to be talking to someone from WALES. Big NO NO. (esp. @miller1098 )

Don't be confused with the word 'Zed'.. We pronounce the letter 'Z' as 'ZEE' they say 'ZED'. At first I though they were talking about some guy named Zed like we would say 'Jed'.

If they are going to make another calendar this year again, and they give the hyperlink to a Brit company that makes them for you to examine, and one of the pictures in their examples happens to be of a Brit girl holding an 'AMERICAN FOOTBALL', make believe you didn't see it. I made mention of how much the Brit girls like American Football and the resulting firestorm took 2 weeks to subside.

Careful about the comments like: "Little old man from ............" That would encompass about 80% of them (including me, but no offense taken)

We LOVE pictures (of the car that is). They loved the ones we sent back driving back from the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, and Vegas..etc.

Get ready to meet the best bunch of guys (and girls) in the world.

Frankie

PS. Bonnet = hood
Hood = top

Thank you for the tips Frankie.
Am familiar with the 'proper' use of the English language as I spent 2+ years in New Zealand. Got a real education there while teaching school and stuck my foot in my mouth many times with the different interpretation of words. Some of them 5 star BIG no-no words. :woot:

Hello from Truro, welcome to the best Zed forum on the planet. You'll can read everything you need to know about these great little cars and our "off topic" rambles are epic and sometimes not for the faint hearted.

The majority of Zed owners on here are 40-50yrs plus and we're all well into our middle age crisis so whatever your reason for buying your Zed you'll be in great company
