Thinking of replacing the - probably original - soft-top on my Aug 1997 2.8 Z3 and not sure, after extensive internet research , which top to go for. There seem to be 3 options:
1. Choose pre-fabricated hood from the US (Robbins, EZon or Sierra using Stayfast/Twillfast fabrics) and get fitters to install. (Robbins and EZon seem to be the same outfit trading under 2 names). Sierra seems to be a separate cheaper budget variant.
2. Choose pre-fabricated hood from Europe (Eurotop in Germany using Sonnenland fabric) and get fitters to install.
3. Choose a fitting shop to manufacture and fit a hood using Stayfast or Twillfast fabric (Croydon, Romford and elsewhere).
My gut is telling me that a pre-fabricated hood made under factory conditions is likely to be a better-made option and probably worth the slightly higher price.
Has anyone else out there done similar research? What I would particularly like to know is whether the Robbins/EZon US hood or the Eurotop German hood is the better choice and why? Any other associated comments would be very welcome
