Needed a new roof as the original was looking a bit grotty around the window panel. Being quoted over £900 at Monsoon which was close to me came as a bit of a shock but then chatted to D at Soft - Tops in Croydon the price quoted was £525 which seemed more reasonable.

Quick blast to Croydon I found Soft-Tops down a small alleyway off the Sydenham road where the proprietor known simply as D chatted happily about all things cars and motorbikes, top fella. Left the car with him for a 3 hour exploration of Croydons shops. The large Whitgift shopping centre had clearly seen better days with over 50% of its shops boarded up, in fact its difficult to promote any reason to visit Croydon though I did find a lovely fruit market and some of the Asian supermarkets held interesting stock.

Anyway suffice to say I was delighted with the results and can certainly recommend D's service though perhaps searching for an out of town pub for a nice lunch would be better time spent.

Popped to Wicks to buy a pipe lagging piece (£1) which got wrapped in a pet blanket (also £1) from Pet's R Us. The idea of this is to help prevent the crease line reappearing over time.

After a few attempts I have got the hang of attaching the tonneau cover as well now!...there is definitely a technique to putting it on which once mastered makes attaching quite simple and does tidy up the look of the roof.

looks good, good price also, my roof is in a similar condition, shrunk away from rear window. Pity I live so far away north of Newcastle. Was the interior headcloth also fitted.?

No D utilised the existing interior no reason to replace it. Possibly companies quoting much more would replace the interior too, not sure.

that has gone up a bit. I paid £325 there, but it was 7.5 years ago...
Out of interest how is the roof holding up 7 years down the road?...any issues?...have you used the 'soft roll' trick to keep the screen from showing the fold crease?
