Hi, recently I purchased a z3 for my wife as a summer car. Great looking car, it sat in the original owners yard for 4 years before she decided to sell it. It has over 202k miles on it. It needed a starter, a battery calipers, brakes, camshaft position sensor, mass airflow sensor, gas cap just fell apart in my hand. I read about the P1397 code camshaft position sensor and yes got the P0340 code today after replacing it with an aftermarket one. So I think I will clean the sensor plug wire and tr;y it again as someone here suggested. I also wanted to know since i did an oil change too, can i do a transmission change since she has sat for so long and does anyone can tell me how?

Is it auto or stick? If you have used an aftermarket cam.sensor you have wasted your money. It will not last IF it works at all. Same applies for the MAF sensor. Aftermarket items are a waste of time and money too. Either Genuine or OEM equivalent are any good.

Thanks for the help. It's an automatic and yes they are aftermarket parts. Didn't think they would really make a difference since the parts store who sells them have been in business for years selling aftermarket parts.
