Welcome aboard the Forum, you have arrived at the best Z Forum on the Web, help and advice always available here.
As our membership is Worldwide its a good idea to update your user details with your location and model of your car, it assists us in answering your questions.
You could also add a signature to show these detail so they appear in all your future posts, saves typing them in on new posts.
If you don't already have a code reader in your toolbox best invest in one, I can reccomend a Creator 310+ or their later 410 model but you will need a BMW 20pin to 16pin OBD2 cable changer to plug it in to the round Pac-man diagnostic socket in the engine bay. If you have the 16pin OBD2 socket under the steering wheel ythat will only read engine and transmission modules, the round socket will read all modules on the car hence the need for the cable changer. Scanner and cable available on ebay and Amazon.

@colb will do the location settings!! Worldwide makes it easier honestly you get tons of info. Heck just looking at the cars on the Fourms here I know something is off for my rearend lol. It sits lower than most of the ones I’ve seen sofar! Attached a picture as I’m drinking coffee outside this morning!!
As far as code readers I use a mix of things either my solus (snap on) or a couple of different normal ones but I appreciate the recommendation! I realized yesterday the OBD2 port wasn’t connected to everything when I went in to see why the ABS and Traction light are on!

I am an aircraft engineer by trade working on cars is simplistic though lol
