Hello everyone. Having gone through a mid-life (plus V.A.T.) crisis I've decided to have a bash at open-top motoring and have just bought a 1997 2.8 Z3 which I collect next week. Really looking forward to life with a BMW but know very little about this model so would appreciate any tips or advice about Z3 ownership. The car has 79,000 on the clock, with an impressive service history, and invoices. Thanks for any comments.

Welcome to the forum from the other side of the Pond. There are several members with your model that can give you all sorts of info and tips. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them since I have a '96 1.9. You can get all kinds of tech. info here and many of the guys (and girls) go on road trips and cruises, some just for the day and some for weekends. They're really a great bunch here, very friendly. Last June, I had a weeks vacation and went over there from New Jersey to meet some of the members. Had a GREAT TIME and met many good friends that I had encountered on this forum. You're in for a good time, you just don't know it yet. Perhaps we'll meet up some day. Frankie

@muskietwo :welcome: from me too. I had my MLC 3 years ago, haven't looked back. They are great cars and you've found a great forum. Lots of info and a fair degree of banter, enjoy your Zed when you get her. Don't forget to post some pictures, we love to see the new cars.;)

Thanks for the welcome Tony. We'll be travelling through Lincolnshire tomorrow on our way to Norfolk. Any chance of clearing the A17 of traffic for us? John

Thanks Gary. 'Er indoors is rather underwhelmed with my MLC, she wanted a 4 door automatic with a sunroof! Could be in for the long haul here.

Thanks for the welcome. The cat actually lives about 100yds away but is convinced he lives here. He marched in the house about ten years ago, disregarding our two cats, and set up shop. I suspect his owners are not too impressed! All the best John

Hi Jim thanks for the message. Maybe you can help! Being totally computer- illiterate, I'm still trying to figure out how to post a message/topic on the forum once having logged in! What is the procedure please!

Hi, you picked on one of the worst people to help you with that!! It took me months to get pics in a post and I'm still not sure how I did it. Follow along the links that HT sent and you'll get it figured out. If not find a child over the age of two and get them to show you. It's embarrassing but they know this stuff. I'd still prefer a rotary phone to be honest. Good luck and hang in there. JIM
