If you take a pic of the failure notice @t-tony and @Stevo7682 are MOT Testers so will be able to advise. As an aside, do you use it much and was it warm when you went to the test centre? A good Italian Tune directly prior to a MOT can help.

Yes gave it a good fun before mot it gets used a fair bit new air filter new replacement center part of exhaust wit cats and new lambers its always smelt fumey

Hi and from Surrey, you say it has always smelt a bit fumey, this is not typical I think you need to track down the cause of the smell as it is probably connected to the problem.

Show us the complete emissions failure sheet (assuming they gave you one, they should but some don't). You say it's 2.0, is that a six cylinder 1991cc 2 litre or a 4 cylinder 1.9?

Mine is a 2.0l six cylinder I didn’t get an emissions read out but can try and get it later as my garage is normally really good
Not sure if it makes Much difference but the flap/ valve in the rear back Box is constantly open ? As something there isn’t working could the vacuum part of it have an impact on it

Their emissions machine must store the results on its hard drive for Vosa inspection. They will be able to print a copy, as I said they should give you a copy at time of test, many don’t to save paper etc. On your failure sheet it will give a reason for failure anyway too. If you can PM me your reg. no. I can look on MOT history.

Just taken it back in for test it has just passed but only just I can send you print out as it might shed some light on it how do I pm you

Hi Roy, click on the envelope icon at the top right hand side of this page. My old 2.0 Z3 always passed the emissions test with flying colours. To be honest most emission issues crop up on the 4 cyl. cars.
