Going to look at a potential purchase this weekend and, checking through the MOT history noticed it has the following advisories on the last 2 tests (2023 & 2024).

  • Nearside Rear Anti-roll bar linkage pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i))
  • Offside Rear Anti-roll bar linkage pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i))
It's only done 1.5k between MOT's so not too surprising they show up on both.

Needless to say, I'll use this as a negotiating point but my questions are is this a difficult job, are the necessary parts expensive and any specialist tools required?

All being well, I'll do it myself but not knowing Z3's,I thought I'd ask.

Anti-roll bar bushes are an easy fix and not that expensive, if your handy with spanners they are DIY, price wise go to Real oem parts site and using last seven of your vin number explore the parts diagrams for part numbers that fit your car then go to Autodoc parts site and using the BMW part numbers enter those in a search to bring back brand options available which will be at various price points. Delivery can take up to a week from Autodoc.

Thanks so much. Yes, I've used Autodoc for parts in the past and know they can take a bit of time to come in. Good to hear they shouldn't be too expensive and an easy fit. Definitely something I'd do myself, then.

Sod Autodoc.

Just go on Ebay and you'll get a pair for 20 quid or so.

Don't tell the seller that though!...instead go for the sharp intake of breath and mutter "that is going to be an expensive fix"....both my mechanic and dentist do this very well.
