Hey everyone ,
I'm a first time Z4 owner. Wanted a little project to enjoy over the summer. I work on planes as a day job so a Z4 cant be that hard right.
Picked up a unique 2004 E85 3.0 a few weeks back that needed a bit of TLC to get her back to her former glory. Car had been sat for a number of years and only covered 8k since 2014.
93k on the clock in Sterling grey. Was on M5 replica wheels and managed to source some beautiful 108's from a lovely chap called Simon in Lincoln.
Car is unique because it has a E46 Hydraulic steering rack fitted. As you know the Z4 PAS is prone to failure. Not sure if there are many out there like this. Previous owner de-catted the vehicle at the manifold and straight piped back to the backbox. Just ordered new cats and a Gravity exhaust system to take away some of those crackles and pops. (old system will be up for sale if anyone wants it)
Got lucky that the roof motor had already been re-located and the engine was running well. Car didn't really have any history so went through with the help of @Bigwinn and did a complete maintenance overhaul.
Engine & Drivetrain
Oil change & Filter, Vanos, Water pump, thermostat, Spark plugs, Disa Check. Air filter, Cabin filter. Diff oil and Gearbox oil change. Coolant change.
Brakes
Full set of Brembo discs & pads, Brake Fluid flush and bleed.
Suspension
Bilstein shocks front & Sachs at the rear. ARB Bushes front and back. Drop links.
Car drives and runs fresh after all the work.
Exhaust to change and a few panels to find and she will be one decent looking Z4. (keen to find some Heated seats too)
