Welcome Terry. I have owned my 2.8 for a little over 6 months, I am no expert.but I would recommend two things .First, after the oil system flush and prior to you refilling with your chosen oil you change both the small 'o' rings on the oil filter housing as per Mike Fishwick's article on the maintenance section of this site. Secondly have a good look at the the air intake rubber boot between the air box and the throttle body. They are often perished and holed. Mine was shot!

Yes and Yes, it is a E36/37. Lots of corporate parts bin sharing. That's a good thing, many parts are less expensive, just be sure of the part #s and ask, look up diagrams and ask again, and know return policies. Having said that I have had no trouble from any of the several suppliers I have ordered from. Enjoy
