I just picked up a sweet Imola Red 2000 M Roadster, and am joining the Z Roadster forum.
I live in NW Indiana (near Chicago).
One passion is sailing my 1988 O'Day 322 (sv Tally Ho) sailboat on Lake Michigan. I enjoy honing my skills at single-handing my boat and the fact that is costs almost nothing to operate...I say I get unlimited MPG!
I drive a Honda Civic Hybrid as my DD car. I drive about 115 miles a day on my round trip to work and back, so the 50+ MPG makes me happy.
A friends dad had a Z3 and brought it to my house way back when (I assume it was new). I really liked the style of the Z3, and said if I ever bought a convertible...
Fast forward a bunch of years, kids are out of college and on their own, and I decide to look for a convertible. Drove a 2000 Corvette, as I also like the looks, but was not really impressed. Seemed sort of heavy. I wanted something a bit zippier.
Found this 2000 M Roadster, drove it, negotiated a price, but left without pulling the trigger....longest week of my life waiting to go back and buy it! Kept thinking someone else would snap it up before I got back. But I was lucky, and picked it up the day before Mothers Day. I let my wife drive it for Mothers Day
She is a blast to drive, and in great condition... until a belt pulley started squealing a few weeks after I brought her home. Quickly indoctrinated into the world of German engineering while removing the fan, replacing the belts and the offending deflection pulley. But she is quiet again and, did I mention, a blast to drive.
Looking forward to learning a lot from the forum!
