Just had my Cat back Longlife exhaust made and fitted today. Went to Demand Engineering in Stowmarket Suffolk, great guys they make exhausts and manifolds for racing Aston Martins as well as Z3,s.

I had no idea just how knackered my old one was, in fact it when it was taken off (or rather turned to dust) both boxes were broken and the front hanger was also non existent.

Decided on a twin staggered rear as it follows the bumper curve and one main box. The sound is great not too loud but its there where it should be. The old one had started to sound like Daffy Duck quacking away behind, the car feels smoother and more responsive and feels fun to drive again.

Only had time to take a couple of pics will put a couple more up soon, I love the look of these pipes

Hi thanks, had the top down on the way home seriously wrapped up, smiling my ass off as I put my foot down. Stainless does have a great resonance too it.

Hi Tony hows things, I will try to get a video up over the weekend £380 finished price happy with that. I went to BMW for a quote £690 Cat back. Also tried a local tyre and exhaust place and was informed by the chap "expensive they don't make em anymore" then quoted me just over a grand. I asked him "if they don't make them any more how come they are that expensive". He replied saying it was because they didn't make them any more, was the reason they were so expensive.

I apologised for not understanding what he was talking about and asked him to clarify if he could still get the exhaust. He replied "yes they don't make them any more and it will be expensive"

I just left, still unsure if they were made or not.

You really can't go wrong with a Long Life that's for sure . I'll be taking mine back in about a month for them to sort out the front end of my exhaust!

Will be looking forwards to hearing what yours sounds like :D

Hi Gaz, will have to run the sound factor past the boss at the weekend, Im hoping there won't be a return trip for an extra box in my future.

Congrats on the job, by the way

Just got back from a rather spirited drive, must say the exhaust sounds great. At low revs it is fairly quiet which is nice with really subtle changes through the rev band. Put your foot down and it sings it has a slight bark to it at about 4500 which is great, the guys got it just right .

Well it passed the most rigorous inspection in the world, the exhaust note/wife seal of (diss)approval. More nerve racking than any MOT and so much more to loose, but I aced it, although I had to concede that I did drive faster than normal.

A pic of the rear
