I got a new car this week. A4 40TFSi black edition. It's very nice, apart from trying to work out how to stop it bonging at me for a hundred different things. It took me 20 minutes to 'set up' the thing before the radio would come on! Modern technology......pah.

You know what’s even more satisfying than a fresh cup of coffee on a Monday morning? Getting behind the wheel of a car you’ve always wanted, without feeling the pressure of a massive deposit. No-deposit car finance is like a shortcut to your car dreams — no need to save up for months or drain your savings account. Flexible terms make it possible for almost anyone to drive off in a car that suits them. If you’re looking for more details, check out https://carplus.co.uk/car-finance/no-deposit/ By the way, if you’re thinking you need to jump through hoops to qualify, forget it. This is all about simplicity and freedom. So, hop in, and let’s get rolling!

It has the speed limiter set to 'ON' by default, so every time it goes 2mph over the speed limit it bongs at you four times. Bloody infuriating. You can turn it off (not simple to do) but it defaults back to ON every time you turn the ignition on.
Completely spoils the car IMO, as A) I keep forgetting to turn it off and B) I don't want to have to mess about turning it off every time I get in the bloody thing.

Some new EU law says that all new cars have to have that noise when the speed limit is exceeded.

Or something like that.

I thought we'd left the eu 🤷‍♂️

In the menu where you where you disable it - is there a manual limit, such as 200kph - that you can set it to that sticks after a restart?

OBDeleven or VAG-COM worth a look, no idea if they can code that out though. Love me a big Audi wagon!
I can't touch it, it's contract lease. If it was my own car it would be back at the dealer by now and I would refuse to accept it until they defaulted the hideous bonging to OFF.

Nope. It works directly from the speed limit sign camera. You can 'adjust' the dead zone up to 6mph over, but that defaults to 0mph on ignition aswell!
It takes me longer to turn off all the 'nannying' crap (lane assist has to be turned off aswell cos I find it dangerous) than most of my journeys take. o_O

That would drive anyone mad, The Volvo only flashes the speed limit sign on the dash, and I always obey it of course.

I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks in a relatively new M3 recently. One of the best features is the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel which can be configured to turn off all the nanny functions as well set a multitude of drive modes, so with one button, you get rid of lane assist and stop start, which for me are the most annoying.
