Welcome, I too have recently bought a Z4 without a test run and got it delivered whilst on holiday.
Red wine was to blame.
It's got roof problems amongst others but advise from the experts on here have raised my hopes.
Currently waiting for INPA and other software from Ebay to have a play.
Stupidly dropped the roof manually and now can't get it back up!!!
Tonyjoc
You can disengage the roof motor Tony, so that you can put the roof up manually. Did you get the Tool kit and owners manual with the car mate?

Tony.

Hi Tony, thanks for coming to my aid so quickly.
I've had the day to play but whilst I was waiting for the software to arrive decided to move the roof motor into the boot. I got as far as trying to split the housing after peeling as much of the tape as possible but couldn't lever the top off. By this time the shelf and hinge were out and my back needed a rest.
Eager to see the car looking it's best I decided to drop the roof, released the catches of the front with an Alan key and disconnected the motor using the red cable pull. Everything folded down smoothly but can only lift it about 300mm with 2 people pulling it up evenly. I suspect something may have got trapped. I'll need to wait for a dry spell to get better access.
The good news is it drives beautifully and has been well maintained. Stripped the brakes for my own peace of mind and all appears good even after standing idle.
Roll on the good weather.

Ok mate, you've covered everything I was going to suggest there. Did you pull the cable at the bottom centre of the panel facing you when you open the boot as well as the pull and turn 90 deg one at the top edge of the boot ? Page 60 in the owners manual after reading page 23
this cable allows you to press the big button above the rear storage compartment and disengages the roof so you can lift it ?

Yep, there's about 75mm of cord visible and the big button is pressed in (found a small piece of broken plastic when I pressed in the button!).
As mentioned before it lifts part way then jams although it drops back down smoothly.
BTW I've got the book & tools.

Not sure what's happening then Tony. Have you spoken to Mike @Ducklakeview he will definitely know what to do. My suspicion is the the "red" cable hasn't fully disengaged the motor drive but Mike will know.

I thought I'd wait and check if the roof works once the electrics are sorted. It's dry stored for the moment.
I'll let you know but thanks for all your help.

The release button on the pump head will be partially seized, galvanic corrosion between the aluminium pump body and the brass release plunger. Pump needs to come out to sort both problems.
