Hi Guys. Just bought my first Z3. It's a 2.8
R reg 97000 miles
Thought I would say hello before I start bombarding you with a load of daft questions.
Car has BMW history up until 3 years ago then nothing. Car has done about 2000 miles in 4 years ish! Owner kept it in a garage and takes it out very rairly. I drove it 150 mile home with no problems.
So first thing. Oil on stick looks good. Going to change it and oil filter. What do you guy's thing of an engine flush first? What oil is best?
Thanx

:welcome:to the forum from West Cumbria. An engine flush certainly wouldn't hurt. I just stick in the recommended viscosity oil stated in the manual.

Not even run in yet :D got any pics?

Hi Andrew, welcome from me near Lincoln. I always use an engine flush and as we used Forte products when I was still at work I recommend them.
I use any "known" brand of oil in the correct viscosity. I also change the oil and filter annualy regardless of mileage.

Tony.

I would also do the plugs, diff and gerabox oil, check the cooling system, most the rads are original and could well be on their way out as mine was, also be worth doing the serpentine belt, pulleys and water pump, that should keep you busy for now, then we'll talk about suspension and running gear :D

Good sills which is excellent for the year. Have fun exploring your new car and making it yours.

Yes sills are all good. No tin worm anywhere that I can see.
One other question! I only have 1 key with a seperate square security fob. Can you purchase keys with built in fob thing or can you buy new keys and fobs?

You won’t be able to get keys with inbuilt alarm buttons. You will have to have separate key and alarm fob.

Keys can be bought from BMW, you should be able to get forum discount.

Alarm fobs - you can buy these second hand from breakers. They just need to be programmed to the car. Easy DIY job - https://zroadster.org/articles/3g-ews-remote-fob-programming.24/
