New Battery Advice?

So I have had a issue with the battery in my 1.9 Z3 constantly draining, use to be every 2 weeks it would be flat but now it is every day! Charged it for 48 hours moved it out the garage yesterday to do some work in there and brought it back in once I was done, went out earlier went to move the car and ... DEAD!

I was told when I bought the car it had just had a new battery installed so I was slightly concerned that it was going flat so quick, anyway after looking at the code it would appear that I had been lied to and the battery is actually from 2013 so would probably explain why it is dying so quick.

My question for this great community is does anyone have any advice for where is a good place to get a new battery at an affordable price?

Cheers

Keep an eye on Euro car parts, they sometimes put discount codes up that offer a substantial saving on their list prices

My advice would be to buy the best you can afford, one with at least a 3 year warranty. Also check to ensure the boot light isn't staying on by putting your phone on video record and putting it in the boot before you close the lid.

Hi Tony,

Thanks I have already checked that, Looks like someone has already taken the bulb out.

I have seen previously that someone mentioned a stuck seat motor so I have checked that but seems ok.

I am going to hazard a guess that it might be the after market stereo that might be causing the problem.

A potential drain and a weak battery is going to cause me a ongoing head ache...

You could isolate the Stereo as a possible drain by putting a break (switch or just plug and socket in the permanent live feed. The switched live is controlled by your ignition switch.

Taken from a post I did earlier in the year.

It really does pay to check around as the price variations for the same/similar batteries are amazing. Using my car reg to find if I had the correct one installed, it proved correct. Euro Car Parts came up with £179.999 (4year guarantee), Halfords equivalent £98 and my local car parts guy Sewells in Billingham £76, with fitting cost of £0.

The Bosch S4007 with 3 year guarantee I picked up from Sewells (the shop owner put car reg in on his PC which came up with this battery also) turned out to be identical to my old battery when I put them side by side even down to the Bosch leaflet attached to the side of the battery.

If you have a Costco card (or know anyone that does) you can buy Bosch Calcium batteries there at a very decent price.
I purchased one last week - S4007 - it replaced the previous Bosch one in my Z that was dated 2010 so that serves to underline how good they are.

And they come with a 4 year warranty.
