Need advice

My 98 Z3 was recently broken into, They ended up breaking the steering column cover off in order to cut the wires and drill into the ignition. With all the damage to different components adding up I looked into the option of just replacing the whole unit. I found someone that will let me remove it from his parts car for $200.

The thing I'm worrying about is I can't find anything online on how to remove one. Would the Anti-theft System still need to be re-Coded or anything like that?
