Need advice ref 2.8 manual

Hi guys , going to view a Z 2.8 manual tomorrow evening ! The chap tells me it has a clunking noise . He says it’s the same thing on M3 . What could it be , diff ? Gearbox ? Any ideas ? Would this be an expensive repair ? Should I walk away or buy if the price is right ? Thanks John

Clunking in the driveline on a Z3 is quite common, with various reasons for it. If you're unsure get someone with experience to go with you to view it.

As said above very common with the Z3, more often than not it's coming from the diff. There are other components like the guibo/flex disc that joins the gearbox or prop shaft bearing but these are less likely to cause clonking and more likely to just fail.

None of these things are a huge amount to fix, if it is the Diff it will need to be removed and sent to a specialist to overhaul, we pay £300-350 for this at the shed.
