Bonjour mes Ami from S.W. France,

I've had my 2000, 3.0i Z3 for several months now and just about finished the engine service preventative maintenance tasks to bring her up to spec. Lots of road resurfacing out here at the mo. with tar and road chips; a nightmare for the paintwork! Does anyone know where I can buy a set of compatible mud flaps, please? I've searched the net but can't find a supplier.

Cheers.

BMW do a set but they have all the grace of a swan's feet! I have only seen one car fitted with them.

If you fit mud flaps to a Z3 then you can kiss your sill ends goodbye in a very short time. ;)

Years ago someone on here said they used a set of "generic" mud flaps from Halfords which needed an amount of trimming to fit a Z3.
Problem with these is you will get a build up of mud etc. behind the flap which will cause the sill ends to rot out.

Tony.

Mud flaps fitted, no problems yet but I do clean behind them regularly.

Bonjour monsieur,

this guy sells mud flaps. They're quite expensive but I haven't found them anywhere else so far.

My front wing also rotted.

The z3 wheel arch liners are just as bad. Muck gets behind there and sill ends rot through anyway. Not sure whether mud flaps could make it worse.

The arch liners can easily be sorted. 😉

I sort like the look of them. Could they be sealed or installed with some type of rust prevention? Just thinking they would also help keep the rocks off the front of the sills.

I have mudflaps on my coupe.
No issues with rust - in fact when I had a lot of bodywork done on my car a couple of years back, the mudflap ends of the side skirts were clean and fairly rust free.

I have genuine BMW flaps - though they are NLA - so you need to source a used set from a breaker.

Hello Each,
Apologies for my tardy response, and thanks for your replies. The spec. for the US supplier (Echo Tech) looks the same as the BMW OEM; I'm in touch with them to check out shipping costs to France; and also what the French import duties might be; they do love taxes and surcharges.
