Hi
Removed all four mud flaps yesterday to have a look at the condition of the sill covers and wings, happy with how the paintwork has lasted and quite free of rust as well after nearly 21 years. Gave it a good clean now not sure if I should refit them or leave them off as it looks better, but obviously wont have the protection against stone chips. What do you think.

Looks very tidy still. Rear mudflaps don't do much really as its all plastic behind them. I bought rubber u channel and put that over the cill lip.

Tricky. Def look better without but seems they've done a sterling job protecting your sills. If you're keeping the car long term and the mudflaps haven't bothered you thus far, I'd be tempted to retain them. Are they BMW ones?

That's a great idea. Is it effective? And do you have a link? I'm considering getting mudflaps but this seems a good compromise between offering some protection and retaining the sleek look:thumbsup:

If you search ebay for rubber u channel , I did this last year and also right around the rear wheel arches and front cill ends. I think I got 8 or 10mm with a 1 or 2mm gap in the u. It must be fairly effective as stones will bounce off the rubber rather that the painted lip.

You can see the rubber on the end of the cill , bit muddy as was at brands hatch last weekend and parking was a muddy field.

They are BMW ones, fitted at manufacture. I like the look without them on, i’ll Leave them off throughout the summer then make a decision, car is being stripped once the summer is over and having a full respray with all the panels off the car.

I’ll check that out, thanks.

Middle ground - just fit them for winter months? best of both worlds etc. the fact they're BMW ones from manufacture is a bonus:thumbsup:
