Pie in the sky until i see something in writing Mike. @Stevo7682 ?

Tony.

ps. Very little there which isn't there already.

Once again another headline about stuff that technically already exists.
Can't comment on the fine thing as I don't know .

But as it stands if you take it to the letter of the law .

If you bring your car in for an mot with say 2 weeks left and it fails
Then technically the car does NOT meet the minimum road safety standard and therefore should Not be continued to be driven on the previous remaining mot.
If the police stopped you they can check the mot status including whether it has been tested and failed before current expiry and will prosecute for driving a vehicle not meeting the minimum mot standard.

We do a lot of fleet mot as well as retail if a fleet car fails car does not leave until repaired as fleet insurance will not cover it if driver removes vehicle.
Stephen.
