MOT worries

Had my MOT on Wednesday, always a time to be a little bit concerned, and yes it failed  when I got the report it said,
: the passenger side jet wash was not adequate
: the near side head light bulb was not in correctly
Well I just laughed, no other advisories at all. 15 minutes to clean blocked hose, and refit bulb.
I thought MOTs looked for serious faults, well these just take the ----, but hay ho, my car is all set for another year and hardly cost a thing
all good in the end.

One of my pet hates is badly adjusted headlights (which includes incorrectly fitted bulbs) as they dazzle anyone you meet, or don’t illuminate the road properly. So yes it is a serious fault.

As a tester myself all i would say is well done on your pass .
But at the end of the day rules are rules and if dvsa deem a specific thing a fail then a fail it is.
I failed an old guy with a low mileage corsa on the horn not working and he said to me .
Why is that a fail son because i dont use the horn

And I would have said to him, but what if you needed to? Also as Steve says “Rules are rules” and there for a reason which are sometimes better understood when explained.

Fairly serious faults I'd have thought, especially at this time of year. And so easily checked before you presented the car for its test.

If it was just a 15 minute job to sort out things, why didn't you do it before the test?

My guess is that you weren't aware. The tester made you aware. Why slag him off?

well I did not post this to have a go at anyone, I just thought they were a very miner thing to fail on
an advisory would be more fitting and waste less time for the testers.
but so be it, I will be careful what I post.

Just put yourself in the Tester's position before posting. It's not hard. I retired from being a tester 4 years ago and I still think most people think it's an easy job. It isn't. But buy the way I'm happy you got another 12 months on your Z.:)

Have you been to the mot garage before 🙂
As I know my mot tester would of just put the bulb in the right position 👍
But I have been using the same garage for 28 years 🤩
And we have 5 members of the family use the same garage too 😳
Glad you got another year’s of happy motoring 🤪
