That's a fail for the garage then not the car
Looked on the dash cam they didn't even move it to take it into the bay. Took the splitter off as well so there was plenty of clearance. Oh well I'll just give someone else my money!

I suppose I can't expect much else from Halfords. I've used them for the last 5/6 years because of the price, it was open today and they have always been spot on. The car was just as low when I've taken it before. If they actually tried to put the car into the bay I can understand their reason, but they didn't even get in the car. Apparently it wouldn't go onto the rollers nevermind the ramp and the young chap of a tester said he didn't want to f*** up my bumper or I'd be pretty p*****! Outstanding customer service as usual.

It depends how much time the tester is slotted to do each test in all fairness. We have a floor level ramp at work and can place covers on the brake rollers to run onto the testing ramp. Sometimes cars are too low to allow the jacking beam to roll under the car. In this case you have to mess about rolling the car onto some wooden blocks at both ends to allow it to be jacked up. This all takes time and where I work a hours slot is allocated to each test but this is not so at all testing stations by any means. Testing equipment is designed to be used on factory standard cars so if they have been modified (lowered) that is what has created the problem.
I will/can take the time to do this but some cannot. Stations are not required to test every vehicle presented for test but have to give a valid reason to refuse to do so. Concerns over vehicle and personnel safety usually are the reasons.

I use a small independant and hes always been great. The car is 30mm lower this year but the its tested over a pit so shouldn't be an issue hopefully.
In all fairness Garry, you will find that some stations, for what ever reasons (usually financial) can't be bothered with taking a little more time over one test where they may be able to do 2. I'm not like that, and the company I work for, in all fairness, don't expect it either.

My test got aborted last year as the mot station used and open pit and by design the jacking beam was quite high and would not even pass under the chassis rails at the front of the car.
They refused to back it or drive it on wood to lift it as it was not test equipment so could not be used.

I can understand that Tony about time schedules and safety factors. It was due to go in for the test at 12.30, they didn't unlock it until 12.45 then called me about 10 minutes after to tell me, starting that late probably meant they didn't have time to mess about with it. It's not even that low, not like some of the slammed and stanced cars you see these days, especially in Halfords car parks. I thought the young lads in Halfords would be used to a modified motor
Took it to my brothers mates garage, no problems cleared the rollers as if it was a 4x4. Passed with a couple of advisories on both rear brake pipes being slightly corroded which I expected. Back out now to put the splitter and plates back on
