My car passed its MOT yesterday for the seventh year in succession. :)

The Tester mentioned that the steering column was slightly rusty on my car and said that he thought certain BMW models had been recalled because of this and might be worth checking with BMW.

Has anyone experienced this problem on a Zed or any other BMW model?

Need I be concerned? The Tester didn’t log the issue as an advisory.

David.

It the tester is not bothered, can only be superficial. Get some grease on it and all should be good!

Wifey's Z4 passed yesterday, with two advisories.
Inner edge worn on rear tyres, and the one I brought up was 'plastic covers fitted under car'
I asked him, as this is advisory, what is his advice regarding them?
He said its because they cannot check things behind the covers such as brake pipes etc
seems like backside covering exercise., to me then .
If something behind there is that important, then the cover should be removed. If its not important enough to remove the cover then it should not be mentioned, after all Its the design of the car,
May as well just pass the car with an advisory "car not seen'

I said does that mean I will never get a MOT again without an advisory, and he said that is the case.

does anyone know where is this referenced in the MOT manual?

I wouldn't have minded, but the engine undertray, was actually in the shed !!!!

You took it to them cowboys at Halfords then? Could have been worse, they could have unlocked it, locked it and then refused to test it like they did with mine.
