Good luck...could all do with a comprehensive MOT check list, to avoid any "silly" failures...MOTs are the cause of some anxiety now our Z3s are maturing...calling all resident MOT testers.
@Stevo7682
The silly stuff we should all know to check lights, tyres, wipers, washers etc.
The majority of serious failures come from deteriorated brakes, corroded brake pipes, front wishbone play/wear, play in steering, corroded fuel tank straps, exhaust leak/emissions and deteriorated/weeping shocks. You see the same things every time on Z3 MOT histories.
So unless you want to put the car up on axle stands and be prepared to test things like wishbone ball joints then it's not straightforward to check everything yourself. And even then you have to know what is too much play, too much corrosion and that's subjective between testers anyway.
I have a good idea of what I'm looking for but ultimately I'm happy enough to stick it in for an MOT and see what comes back.
Retests are free so you're effectively paying someone else to do the diagnosis for you.
But lights, tyres etc we should all be checking regularly anyway and not just before an MOT
