For the cost of ball joint dust covers you have to remove the drop link to fit them, I don't see the point of refitting old drop links. Change them while they're off.
Just for info, as an M.O.T. tester this ball joint dust cover fail/advise on drop links is a lot of C...P. but we have to apply the rules as we have them.

The roll bar linkage aka drop link does not have a replaceable cover so change both of the drop links and you will even see an improvement in the front end stability.

Thanks guys, 1 last question on these drop links, been checking web to purchase some, prices range from £6 to £30, rather have some decent quality, any recommendations or do these look ok ?

These are not for the Z3, pattern parts have to meet the drawing specification, so don't worry about cost, if you are a label merchant, then Lemforder, meyle, or Delphi, are the oem suppliers.
